633mph man helps Lincoln Castle Academy Gravity Racer
by Mr SMITH - Saturday, 17 September 2011, 03:17 PM

Richard Noble spent a weekend with Mr Creasey and some Lincoln Castle Academy students in an attempt to improve the performance of the gravity racer. Richard Noble broke the land speed record in 1983 and is currently in charge of the Bloodhound 1000mph jet car project. Our gravity car, which is capable of slightly lower speeds, 55mph, came first in its class when it was raced the next day. The weekend event was filmed on behalf of Microsoft

Well done to Mr Creasey and the students.

Challenge Update CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TEAM

Students and staff have achieved an amazing 2,903 lengths of Yarborough swimming pool so far. Mrs Gregory continues to keep her “eye” on us making sure we touch the sides at the end of each length before adding to the record card! We have lots of fun and a great team spirit has developed. Each Wednesday lunchtime we meet to swim together to reach our target of 14,080 lengths. New friends have been made between students ranging from Year 7 to Post 16. Our younger students are achieving personal goals and our older students are fantastic mentors offering encouragement length after length! Our aim is to swim the equivalent distance along the River Seine from Le Havre to Paris. Every length will make a difference as we fundraise for our nominated Charity, Mutual Support. The Charity helps people in the Armed Forces with Multiple Sclerosis. For further information please contact Mrs Mathews in the Enterprise Office. Thank you for your continued support and sponsorship.
